Laying Lino Flooring with Linoleum Flooring Adhesives
Linoleum flooring, made from natural materials like linseed oil and cork, is robust, durable, and available in a wide range of attractive designs. For a secure and dimensionally stable installation, particularly on dense substrates and hessian-backed sheet linoleum, it is essential to use a specialist wet-set linoleum adhesive. This type of adhesive provides a quick initial bond and minimises movement during cure.
Adhesives such as UZIN KE 2428 or UZIN LE 43 offer a fast, strong initial grip and develop high strength, making them ideal for laying linoleum. Alternatively, UZIN KE 2000 S, a pressure-sensitive linoleum glue, can be used depending on the sheet thickness. Choosing the right linoleum adhesive is crucial to achieving a hygienic, long-lasting finish when laying lino floor coverings.

Why use UZIN adhesives for installing linoleum floors?
Selecting the right linoleum adhesive is essential for achieving long-lasting results, and linoleum adhesives are specifically engineered to meet those needs. Here are some key benefits of using UZIN linoleum glues:
+ Proven bond strength and dimensional stability
UZIN adhesives minimise movement during curing and ensure a secure, long-term bond on dense substrates and hessian‑backed sheet lino.
+ Wet‑set expertise for lino installations
Formulated for wet‑set application, UZIN lino glues provide the open time and working properties installers need when installing linoleum flooring.
+ Sustainable EC1 Plus certificed & solvent‑free lino adhesives
UZIN lino glues are solvent-free and certified EC1 Plus, which means they emit minimal volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and improve indoor air quality. Choosing a solvent-free, EC1 Plus-certified linoleum adhesive not only protects installers and building occupants but also supports compliance with green building standards such as BREEAM and LEED, contributing to healthier working environments.
Choose a UZIN lino adhesive to ensure your lino installation performs exactly as intended.
Tips for lino flooring installation
Installing linoleum flooring is popular because of its durability, easy maintenance, and natural antimicrobial properties, making it an excellent choice for kitchens, healthcare settings and other hygiene‑sensitive areas.
Acclimatise the material.
Leave rolls of linoleum flooring in the installation area for 24–48 hours (or per manufacturer guidance) to allow the material to reach room temperature.
Inspect and prepare the subfloor.
The subfloor must be clean, dry, load‑bearing, smooth and free of dust, grease, paint, old adhesives or other contaminants. If the floor is dusty, damp, or uneven, choose a suitable UZIN primer, DPM, and smoothing compound to rectify.
Check the environment.
Maintain stable room temperature (ideally between 18–25°C) and moderate humidity. Avoid installing in extreme temperatures.
Use a UZIN wet‑set adhesive for linoleum installations.
Select the correct adhesive notch (see the lino adhesive data sheet) and apply it over the subfloor. Wet set lino glues allow the sheet to be bedded into the adhesive while it is still wet, ensuring complete adhesive transfer and minimising movement as the adhesive cures.
Apply pressure after installing linoleum.
After carefully laying the lino floor into the wet adhesive, immediately roll over the sheet to expel air. Use a weighted 68 kg pressure roller to press the sheet into the adhesive for maximum adhesive transfer.
